Total Anarchy: Student Brings a Copy of the Message to Bible Class
On November 7, Campus Safety sent out a mass emergency text to students warning them of a potentially dangerous situation on campus.
"BIOLA SAFETY ALERT: (M) with copy of Message Bible in Business 109. Stay away. Shelter inside - lock doors/windows. Campus Safety/other agencies handling the situation. Pray for discernment on behalf of perpetrator," read the text.
After the text was sent to students across campus, panic spread. Students began barricading doors with furniture fearing for their theological well-being.
"I was in my psychology class when the text was sent out. After we had barricaded the doors we all gathered round to pray for the safety of Biola," said sophomore psychology student Lisa Brennan.
When news of the incident broke out, Biola sent its finest team of theologians to disarm the student. Drs. Huffman, Jung, and Talley were all sent in to diffuse the situation.
"We took every precaution necessary to ensure the situation was handled safely," said Dr. Jung. "Fortunately, we were able to diffuse the situation by carefully removing the copy of the Message from the perpetrator and replacing it with an ESV Bible."
The student responsible was given a $25 fine for the endangerment of student spiritual development.
