Two Ducks Fatally Wounded In ‘Horrific’ Golf Cart Accident

Tragedy struck Lower Campus today as a careless accident turned into a horrible nightmare. A staff worker lost control of his golf cart vehicle and seriously wounded two mallard ducks, who passed away several hours later in a La Mirada emergency care unit.

“This came as such a shock to the whole community,” a Hart resident said. “Nobody saw it coming.”

The two ducks were regular visitors to the grass lawn in the front of Stewart Hall. The incident occurred on the other side of the street, near the canal.

“This is supposed to be a safe place for ducks,” junior Terin Cargill said. “Nothing like this should ever happen.”

The driver of the golf cart claimed to not have seen the ducks before running them over. However, law enforcement officials said that he will be put on trial for several offenses including careless driving, property damage, and vehicular homicide.

Counseling offices have been open all day for students and staff recovering from this tragedy. However, the healing process is slow.

“I’m not about to let them go,” a weeping student said. “I never wanted them to go.”

Memorial services for the ducks will be held at Creek Park Community Church on Saturday, March 16th.
