Campus Safety Rolls Out Transformer As Newest Officer

On March 27th Campus Safety unveiled their newest member to the force, a 160-foot transformer named Jericho. A special ceremony was held at the Bell Tower at 3:00pm to induct Jericho into the Biola community.

With rising crime rates throughout America, Campus Safety felt that it was necessary to add Jericho to the team.

“I truly believe that we made a wise decision to hire Jericho,” Campus Safety cadet Sierra Gardner said. “I don’t know why we didn’t do this sooner.”

Gardner also added that Campus Safety hopes that it will be a smooth transition for Jericho, especially since he transforms into a T3 vehicle when off-duty.

JERICHO OVERCOMES DIFFICULT PAST

Jericho did not grow up in a Christian junkyard, and he always felt that something was missing in his life. At a young age, he indulged in the Hollywood lifestyle of partying that came with playing a small role in the Transformers trilogy. Jericho’s life finally hit rock bottom when he was faced with extreme health problems. He was then diagnosed with a specific case of anxiety related to large groups of people walking in circles around him. It was amidst this darkness that God transformed his life.

“I’m really thankful for what He has done,” Jericho said. “I feel that God has called me to be a leader for this generation and I’m excited for what He has planned for my future.”

STUDENTS RESPOND POSITIVELY TO JERICHO

Jericho’s duties will include administering parking tickets, patrolling the campus, and aiding other officers in dorm room inspections. This is his first stint at a university, but he is confident he made the right decision.

“Biola was always on my radar…it was always an option,” he said. “I really feel that this is where God has called me right now.”

Although there are some students who feel that having a transformer on campus is unnecessary, the overall reaction to Jericho has been positive.

“Students are already saying that they feel safer with him on campus. Maybe I won’t have to work as many hours now that he’s around,” Gardner joked.

Jericho is already getting involved in extracurricular activities at Biola. He plans on organizing weekly free car washes to reach out to the residents of La Mirada starting in the Fall semester of 2013.
