Diversity Win! Only 72% of the Flag Bearers Were White

In an effort to diversify Missions Conference, SMU incorporated a more diverse array of students for the flag running ceremony.

"We wanted to better exemplify the diversity of the world and God's kingdom," said Missions Conference coordinator Mary Billow, "We all agreed that we needed to be more inclusive."

Only 72% of the students running the flags this year were white, compared to 91% last year.

"The reaction has been mostly positive. We have taken all the necessary steps to ensure that Missions is more diversified," said Billow.
