Upcoming Torrey Conference Themes Leaked

LA MIRADA, CA - A new batch of documents released today by Wikileaks appears to confirm the themes for Torrey Conference running through 2021. Although the themes have yet to be confirmed by Spiritual Development, there has been a lot of speculation as to the direction that Torrey Conference is heading.

“I think students will love the new and exciting topics we will be introducing in the next five years,” said Dr. Patrica Rockerspiegle, director of Theme Coordination and Student Appreciation.

Full list below:

Torrey 2017: Gotta Catch ‘Em All

“We want to center around practical evangelism at the cross-roads of culture. We’ve even been working with Niantic to produce an app similar to the popular Pokemon Go for students to enjoy during the conference. Students will be able to throw bible verses at photos of pop culture icons, such as Justin Bieber.” - Professor Bill Billington

Torrey 2018: Engaged

“The word ‘engaged’ can be used in a lot of ways. ‘Engaged in my community’, ‘engaged in a bible study’, etc. However, this year, we want to encourage students to pray seriously about the relationships they are in. Throughout the week, we will be holding special banquets, dinners and GYRADs to promote intentionality among students. We’re hoping to add another 5 to 8 DTR benches across campus. Finally, during the last evening session, student leaders and potential bachelors will be up front at the end of the service to pray and propose to you, ensuring that you find ‘The One.” - Dr. Jonah Fisher

Torrey 2019: What Would Harambe Do?

“I think without argument, Harambe’s sacrifice is something that we have not thought through enough as a campus. This year, we hope to promote dialogue between both proponents and opponents of the Harambe movement. We’re working on booking the Cincinnati Zookeeper as our keynote speaker, but we are still negotiating rates.“ - Lark Beston, captain of Biola Horseriding Association

Torrey 2020: #TorreyInTheDesert

“This is going to be a really special year for us. Through funding by increasing student tuition, we will be relocating all students to a 3 day event in a remote location in the Mojave desert. We want students to really have a clear, “2020” vision of the Israelites’ wandering in the desert. Although the heat may pose some health concerns, we will be encouraging students to wear sunglasses throughout the conference.” - Dr. Barbara Mantly

2021: A Torrey Odyssey

“Coinciding with the highly anticipated third and final installment to the VOID trilogy, 2021 A Torrey Odyssey will utilize the latest VR technology to engage students in a conference experience like never before. We’ve been working with NASA to develop out of this world experiences, allowing students to experience the grandeur and majesty of our Creator’s universe. We have sessions planned on The Moon, Jupiter, Kepler 10c, and even the Event Horizon of a Black Hole. Matthew Mcconaughey has agreed to host and narrate our intergalactic experience, and frankly we spent all of our budget on him and the VR headsets, so that’s about all we’ve planned so far.” - Marcus Loogu, Chief Planetary and Space Observationist of The Biola Crane
