Music Regulations Instituted for Baseball Field

Sporting events are a long-standing part of Biola student culture. Due to a recent spike in complaints from students, Campus Safety will be stepping in to monitor the music played during baseball practices and games for the good of the general student body. This is being done in order to protect students from media not consistent with that which is approved in the student contract.

“We hope to protect students from questionable lyrical content found in songs from artists such as Taylor Swift and Three Doors Down,” a representative from Campus Safety said. “There is no need for Biolans to be subjected to this type of music while walking around campus.”

A playlist of acceptable contemporary Christian tracks is currently being pieced together by Student Development and Chapel Programs. Hopes are high that this change will draw the Biola community together and bring more fans to baseball games. Students and faculty alike look forward to the fostering of a new environment, especially for those living on lower campus.

Sophomore Biblical Studies Major Buzz Flallinger stated, “I’m excited to hear more bands such as MercyMe and NEEDTOBREATHE from the baseball field. The walk down Caf Hill seems so much longer when I have to listen to oppressive secular music.”

The playlist is set to be finished by the beginning of April. Students are welcome to submit song selections to bellseditor@gmail.com. Please thoroughly examine lyrics before making your submission.
