Maroon 5 To Open For Phil Wickham At Biola Spring Concert?

On March 12 it was announced that Maroon 5 will be joining Phil Wickham at this semester’s Spring Concert. The details are still coming together, but according to Adam Levine’s twitter feed, the band is considering the possibility of opening for the Christian worship artist after they realized John Mayer dropped them from his “My Body Is More Of A Wonderland Than Yours Tour 2013” for undisclosed reasons.

Maroon 5’s manager declined to comment on the incident although she did caution that Levine might be the only member of the band to show up for a three-song acoustic set, and only under the condition that the stage crew not allow Wickham to look “prettier” than himself.

Wickham has yet to be reached for comment. But his manager expressed “doubt” toward the possibility of Levine going through with it.

“I don’t think anyone told him he wasn’t headlining. It might be a good idea to let him keep thinking that.”

Although many students have voiced concern because of the obvious contrast in content between the two artists’ works, others find the idea to be intriguing.

“I don’t see what the big deal is,” sophomore Jay Beuler said, “Underoath toured with Slipknot. Frankie D hung out with Joseph Stalin.”

“I think it’ll be a fun show,” freshman Roderick Jaynes said, “it’s about time we brought sacred and secular together.”

It is rumored that Biola officials are looking to book a prominent pastoral speaker to get student’s hearts and minds ready for worship after Levine’s set.
